Acne-Prone Skin and Silk

With acne, many factors can trigger breakouts. From:

  • Stress,
  • Eating habits,
  • Hormones,
  • … to Environment

Aside from eating habits, managing the quality of your surrounding environment can easily help you reduce breakouts.

What do we mean by that?

Well, exposing your already sensitive skin to microorganisms and dirt can easily trigger your acne. As your skin is in contact for at least a third of the day, totaling to 56 hours per week, you most take great care of what you’re sleeping on.

Most often, it is recommended to wash your pillowcase frequently to prevent build-up of oils, makeup residue, bacteria etc. Ultimately minimizing the risk of breakouts.

What does this have anything to do with silk?

Silk is a hypoallergenic and breathable material. By being hypoallergenic and breathable, silk prevents the build up or harnessing of microorganisms such as bacteria that trigger acne.

Most importantly, silk is a natural fibre which removes the possibility of exposing your skin to any unnecessary chemicals or manmade substances (see our OEKO-Tex article to know how).

With silk being so gentle and smooth it eliminates irritating your already sensitive skin.

But silk is so expensive!

Yes. We at Naturel-le, are aware of your struggles. However, with a silk pillowcase, consider it as a lifetime investment. If stored properly and washed as instructed, a silk pillowcase will last. On top of that, it will save you hundreds of dollars spent on products that eventually rub off on alternative and cheaper pillowcase fabrics such as cotton.
